Transcendent Prelude: A poem
For my masc girlfriend
Amidst the scrutiny of societal eyes,
My love walks in, breasts bared,
A wounded flare in the face of unwritten rules.
Our love stands before the tiles that stare.
Public toilets become courts of judgment,
Yet, they stride, unapologetic,
Their bosom a pass, a ticket to spaces our bodies try to find relief.
Rebellion whispers in the quiet moments,
As we scan a stall that demands conformity.
Hand in hand we exist, casually united,
While the sewage of judgment clogs the scene.
The mirror apologizes, reflects our intimate defiance,
If our love is frivolous, why does the air feel heavy?
Pride mingles with shame in this paradox,
Silently, less often than not.
